⚠️UK Lawmakers Propose Mandatory On-Device Surveillance and VPN Age Verification⚠️
These amendments are numerous and some in particular require everyone to take heed.
Amendment 1)
A “relevant device supplied for use in the UK must have installed tamper-proof system software which is highly effective at preventing the recording, transmitting and viewing'' child sexual abuse material.
This would mean everything on the device is scanned.
''Relevant devices'' are ''smartphones or tablet computers which are…internet-connectable''.
This means manufacturers, importers, and distributors would be legally required to ensure that every internet-connected phone or tablet they sell in the UK meets this requirement.
Take a step back and look at the bigger picture for a moment.
Today, it is possible and legal to buy a deGoogled phone with alternative operating systems and software from outfits like Reboot Privacy.
If this bill passes, it could be illegal to do so and illegal for us to provide devices to people wanting to retain and regain their privacy.
If this bill passes, Reboot could cease trading as we will never submit to such dystopian controls.
Amendment 2)
Other parts of this bill introduce ''age assurance'' obligations to prevent children from using VPNs. This will include, as you might be familiar with, online ID verification and biometric AI age estimations.
Again, to prevent children they will ID everyone buying or using a VPN.
These two amendments alone will turn personal smartphones and tablets (and then laptops and desktops later too) into nothing short of permanent surveillance systems.
Make no mistake, this bill represents the largest widespread assault on digital privacy ever introduced in a democratic country.
