Fairphone Experience

The Fairphone is made from fair and recycled materials, with respect to the factory workers producing them. All major components themselves, such as the camera, battery, USB port and screen can be replaced by you, the owner. A modular masterpiece!

In addition to this, Fairphones have removable back covers, so you can easily change the battery at any time!

CalyxOS, used on our Fairphone devices, is an open-source, non‑Google phone operating system from the Calyx Institute that emphasizes ease of use, privacy, and its mission to make digital privacy, security, and connectivity universally accessible.

Our phones run a clean Android interface you will already be familiar with, with automatic over-the-air updates that keep your device secure without any effort. Every device includes a guide to help with the transition, showing how to migrate from your old devices, offering privacy tips, and introducing you to your new phone. And to get you started, we've pre-installed two app stores plus a curated suite of vetted open-source apps-for messaging, browsing, maps, weather, password management and everyday tasks—all privacy-respecting and ready to use out of the box.

Secure Sandbox

All of our phones feature a built-in "sandbox" profile—a separate environment for apps you need but don't fully trust, like banking or social media. When installed here, these apps have heavily restricted permissions and cannot access anything outside the sandbox.

This gives you total control over apps that usually give you none. Choose what contacts an app sees, control what storage it uses, and keep your personal data completely isolated. Even if you need WhatsApp or Facebook, you can install them via the Aurora Store in this protected space—keeping them in their own little box, away from your main profile.

Reboot phones allow you to disable 5G and intrusive emergency alerts if you choose. You also get fine-grained authority over exactly what each app can see—from sensors to contacts and files. All phones come with a locked bootloader. A locked bootloader enhances security by verifying software integrity and ensuring no tampering has occurred during startup.

Because we've stripped away the bloat, ads, and trackers that drain big-tech phones, you'll notice significantly longer battery life than the ‘’always-on’’ big tech offerings phoning home every second.
